    [12 Jun 2020] The BSc student in informatics at University of Gothenburg, Tanya Singh, has been appointed "Tech Girl of the Year" 2020 by Microsoft Sweden.

  • Covid-19: Communication in a crisis of a new magnitude and complexity

    [27 May 2020] Covid-19 is a dominating topic in the news, in our social media feeds and in many of our interpersonal conversations. It has a profound impact on our everyday life ¿ it changes the way we study, work, engage with our families and friends. In this scholarly discussion in cooperation with the Institute of Media and Communication Science at the German Technische Universität Ilmenau as well as the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication (JMG) at the University of Gothenburg, Andreas Schwarz and Bengt Johansson explore Covid-19 from the perspective of crisis communication research. They reflect on the particular challenges of pandemics, the special nature of Covid-19, ongoing research as well the role of scholars in mitigating this pandemic.

  • Ocean data and AI to tackle climate change and invasive species

    [22 Apr 2020] The Ocean Data Factory (ODF) project wants to enable Sweden to be one of the leaders in using ocean relevant data and integrating AI into the understanding and analyzing of data. Yixin Zhang from the Department of Applied IT leads the continuous evaluation and innovation package within the project.

  • Jonas Ivarsson is a newly appointed professor - this time in informatics!

    [19 Mar 2020] Jonas Ivarsson is a new professor of informatics from 19 March, 2020. Jonas has a background in cognitive science and was between 2013 and 2019 professor of pedagogy at the University of Gothenburg, In 2019 he switched to the Department of Applied IT and the research area informatics.

  • Wanted: examples of blockchain in government

    [2 Mar 2020] The OECD is working with a blockchain expert on research on the uncertain promise of blockchain for government. As part of the research, we are interested in collecting public sector experiences on 1) successful government blockchain projects that have moved to the implementation phase and have users; 2) interesting government blockchain projects that will be implemented in the near future; and 3) stories and lessons learned from projects that did not reach the implementation phase or gain users.   • Student pod on digital innovation, digitalization, digital transformation and governance

    [30 Jan 2020] Swedish Centre for Digital Innovation (SCDI) has launched the latest in its initiatives intent on increasing the utilization of research findings in practice. The Dina Files, dubbed after SCDI Faculty member Dina Koutsikouri, collects podcasts where masters students have summarized key findings from the most recent research contributions on digital innovation, digitalization, digital transformation and governance.

    [9 Dec 2019] Marisa Ponti has together with department colleagues received NOK 1,800 000 funding from Nordforsk for the project Nordic participatory, healthy and people-centred cities (NordicPATH).

    [27 Nov 2019] The purpose of the SIDA BRIGHT programme is to contribute to sustainable socio-economic growth in Uganda through capacity building in research and eduation at Makerere University within the area of ICT.
