Division of Cognition and Communication

The activities at the Division of Cognition and Communication is conducted largely within the interdisciplinary research center SCCIIL - Language, Semantics, Cognition, Communication, Information and Interaction.

Research

Ongoing research projects:

  • Embodied Communicative Feedback (VR)
  • Semantic processes in word finding and gestures (VR)
  • MORCOM@COGS - Morphological Computing in Cognitive Systems (VR)
  • NOMCO - Multimodal corpora for the Nordic languages (NOS-HS)
  • Intercultural Health Communication (VR-SRL)
  • Documentation of Lohorung – a lesser resourced language in Nepal (VR-SRL)
  • Computationa tools for the South African spoken language corpus (VR-SRL)
  • Ethnicity and human-animal communication. An analysis of the communication between young persons and horses in horse-supported therapy (FAS)

Education

The division is responsible for courses within cognitive science and an international master programme, Master in Communication and courses within intercultural communication and rhetoric.
