Applied Information Technology
and Artificial Intelligence

How AI can be designed to
support a desired future?
As teachers and researchers in applied IT we do not value Artificial Intelligence as a phenomenon, neither do we review the technology itself. We are interested in how AI affects us people and what impact it has on businesses, public activities and organizations. How it changes our way of life and the consequences it brings on individual, organizational as well as social level. But also, how AI can be designed to support a desired future?

The technology is not new; learning machines to do intelligent work in combination with decision support and automation has been around for decades. But now AI is broadly introduced in the whole society; in the financial sector, health care, in schools and within the automotive, government and journalism industry.

AI is not a transient trend or the beginning of the end of humanity. We, as teachers and researchers, are neither unilateral advocates, strong opponents nor techno populists. We see that AI is here to stay in a variety of areas and our mission is to explore its consequences.
