Given the main theme of the symposium, exploring the relationship between teaching and research and what it involves for our community of colleagues, these are some of the topics we hope might be rewarding to discuss:

  • What urgent, empirical questions are there in current LSP/EAP efforts? How and where have questions of such kinds been addressed?
  • What types of research methodologies, research findings and evidence do we make use of?
  • What are the challenges and opportunities as we make our own LSP, LAP, ESP, EAP classrooms the objects of research

We wish to address these topics from a broad perspective across languages and educational contexts ranging from actual examples of research-based teaching, ideas of how to find or define research-based teaching, materials development, and writing centre work.

With our respective contexts and professional environments, other topics and themes are likely to be urgent to participants and proposals for such topics, themes, and discussions are most welcome of course!
