The activites within CKK - Centre for Competence and Knowledge Building in Higher Education has changed name to EER - Engineering Education Research and includes previous activities as well as the activities within gc PLUS, Gymnasiecentrum and Fysikaliska leksaker. EER is also one of three divisions in the Key Milieu Learning.
EER's current mission is to help develop the competence of Chalmers teachers in the area of teaching, learning and supervision in higher education, primarily by offering courses to full and part time teaching staff at Chalmers. Many of the latter category are doctoral students who are now required to undertake courses in pedagogy and research ethics as part of the coursework component in their studies.
All courses are given in English in keeping with Chalmers initiative to develop the English competence of its staff in the light of the Bologna Agreement.
Teachers from the University of Gothenburg who need to undertake pedagogical courses in English may apply to be enrolled in CKK courses. A fee for service is charged to their department. Details are available upon application.
EER is staffed by academics who carry out research into Higher Education within the research school of applied information technology. Their research informs the courses they give as well as contributing directly to the field of Studies in Higher Education.
EER is a division within the Department of Applied IT and is funded by Chalmers. As well as courses for teachers and teaching assistants EER will offer support for administrators and departmental heads concerned with improving teaching and learning at Chalmers.
